JAMMU, Feb 8: General Category People’s Forum (J&K), has alleged that general category people have been deprived of their legitimate rights of equality, justice and equal participation in jobs and admissions through caste-discrimination in the name of social justice.
In a meeting of the Forum held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, its president- Yash Paul Sanson alleged that general category people have been facing great discrimination since long and the vote bank politics in the country has failed to provide justice to the general category people.
Sanson lauded the verdict of the Supreme Court of India, upholding the decision of Uttrakhand Government for not granting reservation in promotions, terming it illegal. He demanded for setting up “Reservation Review Commission” to make the system of reservation , useful and beneficial for the poor caste and to end the integrity, injustice and marginalization of large population.
Forum reiterated its demand that some solid steps are needed to be taken by the Government to ensure the full implementation of Articles 14, 15 and 16 by removing unreasonable restrictions imposed on their application. All Indians should be treated equally, irrespective of caste, religion or region as the caste politics is the great set back to our volatile society and hurdle in proper development. He said that in the national interest all type of reservation must be scrapped in the country.
General Secretary, Som Nath Sharma also strongly pleaded for providing justice to the general category people and stop the caste bases reservation in the country for the better development and prosperity of the country. He also demanded implementation of all the verdicts of the apex court especially with regard to the stoppage of reservation in promotions as done in Uttrakhand. He condemned the politics of blackmailing being playing by some ‘so called’ community leaders for whom ‘self’ is first and country on the last. Forum also demanded that VIP culture should be brought to an end in the country and Government must keep check on corruption in J&K UT.
