KATRA, July 24: Lt Gen D S Hooda, GOC-in-C, Northern Command, today mentored the attendees of the 5-day, Department of Science and Technology (DST), sponsored “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)”, Science Internship Camp at SMVD University.
While speaking on the occasion, Gen Hooda said that he was privileged to get the opportunity to interact with the brightest of the students from the State. While commenting on technological advancements, he said that his student days where quite different from how things are today. “Today’s generation has access to latest technologies at the fingertip, while in the earlier times one had to wait for years to even get a telephone connection,” he said and added that what could be taken for granted today, was unimaginable earlier.
Gen Hooda said that we are in exciting times today so far as the science and technology is concerned and even more exciting times are ahead of us.
GOC-in-C, Northern Command answered the questions from the young attendees of the camp on wide ranging aspects of science & technology, defense preparedness, training, societal responsibilities etc. The session ended with the exchange of mementos between Gen Hooda and Prod Sudhir K Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU.
Gen Hooda was briefed by Prof Jain about the campus master plan and future activities of the University. He was also briefed about the ongoing research work in the area of seismology by Dr Sunil Wanchoo. A seismograph was put on display on the occasion.
Lt Gen D S Hooda, was earlier received at the University helipad by Maj Gen Rao, GOC, U-Force and senior functionaries from the University.
