General Category People’s Front highlights problems

JAMMU, June 1: General Category Peoples’ Front (GCPF) held its meeting under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front to discuss the existing problems being faced by the people of JKUT.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front said that people of Jammu & Kashmir have been facing problems of price-rise, unemployment, heavy tolls and taxes and absence of basic needs of pure drinking water, good roads, civic amenities, health services, uninterrupted electricity and other such things. “People are suffering under JK-administration which has failed to pay any attention towards mitigating problems of people. On the other hand administration is playing no role towards checking of price rise, unemployment. Every month people are being gifted with new taxes or an increase in the taxes,” he said and appealed the administration to stop imposing or increasing taxes as people have been paying heavy taxes on every items.
Som Nath Sharma, Gen Secretary, urged the Government of India to restore basic fundamental rights of `Swarn’ castes that have been restricted to appease a section of society for divisive vote bank politics. He alleged that politicians and policy makers were biased against General category people. He stressed that inadequate incomes are the most important concern of 90 percent Indians. “Caste divisions are acute and economic inequalities are increasing due to vote bank politics. Due to wrong economy policies of the Govt, Indian economy has plunged into abyss,” he added.
V K Sharma, Vice President alleged that lack of direction and political will have compounded problems of people in the country and have been facing injustice; inequality and caste-discrimination in every spheres.
Others who spoke in the meeting, included Dr Bansi Lal, Bhushan Pargal, Deepak Khajuria, Gopal Dass Verma and Surinder Kumar. They unanimously opposed the anti-people policies of JK U T administration and also alleged that the Govt of India was behaving like a Corporate House, working with sole aim of imposing taxes through various names on people making their life miserable. They said that people cannot be fooled by creating false narratives of progress and welfare of people. Alleging that performance of JK UT administration was zero, they wanted its immediate replacement with an elected Govt.
