JAMMU, Sept 23: Demanding wage revision, the employees of General Insurance Public Sector Companies, under the banner of Joint Forum Trade Unions with support of NZIEA State Committee J&K, held demonstrations all over the country during the lunch hour period.
In Jammu also, a massive demonstration was held in front of National Insurance Company Limited, Regional Office-Cell, Volga Complex, Canal Road, against the Government for showing non-seriousness towards the settlement of wage revision which is due from August 1, 2012. The protesting employees raised slogans and expressed their anguish over the inordinate delay in settling the demand of wage revision and one more pension option.
The joint demonstration was addressed by comrade Dileep Kaul, Standing Committee member All India (AIIEA) and State general secretary of J&K State; Comrade P K Sood, president INTUC Chandigarh Region; Comrade Pawan Gupta, NZIEA divisional secretary Srinagar Division and other leaders of Joint Forum of Trade Unions.
While addressing the employees, Comrade Dileep Kaul said that the last wage revision in PSGI on August 1, 2007 and March 31, 2012 followed impressive performance by the company in every aspect of functioning despite a very difficult economic environ. The Gross Direct Premium Income (GDPI) increased from Rs 16,832 crore to Rs.42,591 crore while the market share of PSGI Cos increased from 54 percent in FY 2014-15 to 57 percent as at August for current FY 2015-16 , he added.
Elaborating more about the growth of PSGI Companies, he stressed that this impressive performance was made only due to immense contribution of the employees. Justifying the demand for satisfactory wage revision, he rejected the Government plea that their wages will be settled on banking pattern. “Our wage settlement is being done on the basis of GDPI as per the GIBNA Act,” he added.
Also demanding one more and final option to the employees for joining the pension scheme, which was introduced in 1995 replacing the management contribution towards PF, Mr Koul explained that the pension scheme is fully funded by PSGI therefore the management and Government should not feel any difficulty in agreeing to this request.
Comrade Dileep Kaul cautioned the employees about the inherent dangers which are to be traced in near future because of the policies of the Government which is allegedly hell bank to create unrest among the working class as the management is working as a tool in the hands of NDA Government.
He also requested the employees to be united for the ongoing struggle in the days to come.
