General line teachers hold protest

SAMBA, Dec 15: General lines teachers held a protest demonstration here today against Government Order 469, which has been a cause of discontentment and demoralization among teaching community.
The members demanded the rollback of order issued by Government to restore the faith of teaching community as their future is uncertain in the wake of said order.
Scores of general line teachers under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) assembled at Veer Bhoomi Park in Samba and expressed displeasure over the unjust and uncalled order.
The president of the Forum, Neeraj Sharma said the order is about to derail the whole education system and is insinuating the upcoming generation especially the educated youth to go for unethical means of employment rather than going for just and fair ways of facing competitions.
He said if the ReTs engagement is to go this way then why the government is running the recruitment agencies like Public Service Commission (PSC) and Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB).  Such move for selfish motives was setting unhealthy precedence for other departments and youth aspiring for respectable profession like teaching will never opt for this job when the future promotion avenues are favoured for adhoc / temporary employees then the employees entering through SSRB and PSC stiff competition, he said.
Sushma Sambyal, district president, Chairman, Sonu Sharma, vice president, Kameshwar Dubey, Kulbhushan Sambyal, Ramkrishan and Bhovinder Sharma among others participated in the protest.
