General Line Teachers meet MoS Education, submit memorandum

JAMMU, June 7: A deputation of General Line Teachers Forum, under the leadership of its State president Neeraj Sharma, called on MoS Education, Shakti Raj Parihar here today and submitted him a memorandum of demands.
Neeraj Sharma briefed the Minister about various issues confronting the General Line Teachers, particularly unprecedented delay in conducting DPC for promotion from Teacher to Master. Because of no DPC, more than 3000 posts of Masters are lying vacant in Jammu province, which is the main cause of resentment among teachers and also the reason for non-referral of Teacher posts to Service Selection Board for recruitment purpose in Jammu, Kathua and Doda districts, he explained.
Neeraj Sharma further stressed that there was an urgent need to change and amend the recruitment rules and make B Ed as compulsory minimum selection qualification for direct recruitment of teachers along with graduation from recognized university.
The other main issues and demands, discussed with the Minister, included removal of pay anomaly of teachers, immediate issuance of General Confirmation Order in favour of all those Teachers, Lab Assistant etc who have completed their 2 years of satisfactory probationary service.
The Minister patiently heard the deputation and assured that with no waste of time, necessary instructions will be passed for holding the DPC on fast track basis and all other demands will also be redressed very soon.
