General problems of people remain unaddressed: Independent Corporators

JAMMU, Sept 19: General problems being faced by the people of different wards of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) are not being addressed.
This was stated by Independent Corporators during a press conference here today. Dwarka Choudhary, Chief Whip of the Congress party was also present on the occasion.
Independent Corporators said that the general problems of the people are not being addressed as General House meeting, which should be convened as per Act of JMC on monthly basis is not held since February 2020.

“Every month meeting should be held so that the Corporators may put their general problems which are faced by the people of the wards”, they added.
They said that the installation of street lights could not continue and 20 per cent of the street lights which were installed were got out of order. Defected lights are not replaced and neither new street lights are installed. We strongly stress that street lights be installed at the earliest, they stated.
The proper treatment is not being given to the patients of COVID-19 due to shortage of oxygen and ventilators in the hospitals and there is total negligence and we request to Lieutenant Governor to take the cognizance of this issue so that the public may take a sigh of relief, they stated.
“We want to know about the outcome of CBI raid at JMC and the corrupt officials should be booked under law”, they demanded.
They said that the development works in JMC wards which were allotted to the contractors were not carried out for the last some months. Notices should be given to these contractors to start the work in wards, they said.
They demanded implementation of the 74th amendment in the JMC.
The Corporators, who attended the press conference were Kamal Singh, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Sobat Ali, Gourav Chopra, Rama Devi, Ritu Choudhary, Rashpal Bhardwaj, Sonika Sharma, Pritam Chand, Amit Gupta, Ashok Singh Manhas and Sucha Singh.
