Generous act by Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, the gentle man but a ferocious hitting  bat  earned laurels for his outstanding class of cricket due to which he shot to world fame and back home, was awarded the coveted Bharat Ratna. He is known for having concern for social issues and very often is devoting time for social activities too.
His latest act of altruism  has come up in the shape of donating a whooping amount of Rs  40 lakh, of course, from the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for construction of a school building in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
The only school in Drugmul, Kupwara Kashmir – Imperial Educational Institute , established in 2007 has more than 1000 students on roll. This school imparts education to students from class 1 to class 10. The funds allocated shall be used for construction of  school building with 10 class rooms, four laboratories, administrative block, six toilets and an assembly hall.
Tendulkar as a Rajya Sabha member also sanctioned funds for construction and up gradation of the class rooms of the school, located in Sewri, south Mumbai.
Through MPLAD ,the former star cricketer has sanctioned  Rs 7.4 crore funds for about 20 projects of schools and educational institutes covering areas in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu etc.
Needless to add, last year many incidents of burning of school buildings in Kashmir valley shattered the conscience of lovers of knowledge and peace, who  wondered over the purpose of denying the right to education to the students by burning their schools. Though that all was   done at the behest of the neighbouring country, still the burnt buildings need renovation and repairs.
