JAMMU, Nov 2: Seeking a decisive mandate to accomplish the unfinished agenda of sustainable peace and inclusive growth for Jammu and Kashmir, patron of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said Assembly elections would mark a new beginning in the State as people have made up their mind to establish a new system here.
Launching election campaign in Jammu province from Nagrota Assembly segment along with former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh, Mufti said, “It is writing on the wall that change in imminent in J&K and people of J&K are looking towards PDP as only alternative to get them rid from present corrupt, inept system”.
“People of the State are eagerly waiting for the opportunity to teach a lesson to those who are responsible for compounding their woes during the last six years”, Mufti said, adding, “PDP has emerged as strong and viable alternative because there is feeling among people that only PDP has moral authority to govern the State because during its earlier tenure PDP had proved how to deliver good governance”.
“Despite getting a very short span of just three years in power between 2002 and 2005, PDP had set into motion a comprehensive process of economic empowerment and infrastructural development in the State which is to be taken to the logical conclusion,” Mufti said adding the party’s visionary political and economic agenda has made it to emerge as a genuine, strong and credible voice of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
He said PDP has already laid an implementable roadmap for addressing the political and economic issues confronting J&K and the party would translate the same into reality with the support of the people.
Seeking support of party candidate Hussain Ali Wafa, who is PDP candidate for Nagrota Assembly segment, Mufti said unlike other political parties capturing power was the not the sole aim of PDP. “It is my desire to strengthen inter-regional unity among Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions”, he said and expressed satisfaction that like Kashmir Valley, PDP has also earned trust and credibility of the people of Jammu and Ladakh also.
Without naming any party, Mufti said that unlike other political parties PDP never tried to create regional or religious divide to reap political benefits. “We tried to reach out to every nook and corner of the State to win hearts and winds of the people”, he said and added that PDP’s pro-peace policies were positively reciprocated by the people from every section of the society.
Pointing out that during the last six years, PDP, as a main opposition party, has never indulged into double-standard like other political parties. “Unlike other political parties PDP never compromised with its ideology for power”, he said and it was all due to conviction of the party that people have faith and trust of our leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said that deceitful tactics of National Conference leadership were responsible for trust deficit among different regions of the State. “For years together NC leadership has brazenly exploited sentiments of the people to remain in power”, he said and reminded the people that it was only during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that every region was treated equally.
“PDP led Government had carved out a path of equitable growth and balanced development in the State”, he said and sought support of the people to carry forward the agenda of inclusive growth.
“Our only aim is not to capture 44 plus seats to attain power but our agenda is to win hearts of people by empowering all regions and sub-regions of J&K”, Beigh said and pointed out that politics of PDP was based on peace, amity and regional unity.
“PDP’s agenda is to ensure political, economic, job and social security for all citizens of the State”, he said “When we took over in 2002 PDP-led Coalition Government had not only rekindled a new hope among the State’s distressed, agonized and traumatized masses, but also devised and started implementing focused politico-economic strategies for the welfare of the State and its people,” he said.
