KATHUA, Oct 4: The second day of National Wildlife Week in Government GLDM, College Hiranagar sponsored by JK Science Technology and Innovation Council, Government of J&K witnessed a seminar on wildlife conservation. The event was presided over by the Principal of the College, Dr. Pragya Khanna.
The keynote speaker was Dr. CM Seth, a former IFS Officer and Chairman WWF-India Chapter Jammu. He elaborated in detail the conservation strategies required for the day and also shared a number of field experiences he had. He called upon the gathering to have an attitude of co-existence with nature rather than that of exploitation. Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Sanjev Kumar were the resource persons of the seminar.
Earlier, the programme begun with the welcome address presented by Dr. Arun Kumar, Head Department of Sociology.
The judges of the event were Prof. Gurdyal, Dr. Ramkrishan, and Dr. Anil Kumar Dogra. After a thorough discussion and deliberation amongst the Jury Manveer Kour of Semester 5th was declared winner for first position. The organising secretaries whose efforts made the seminar a grand success were Prof. Neha Bhagat, Prof. Ramneek Kour and Prof. Manjot Singh.
