RAMBAN, June 14: Students of Government Girls Middle School (GGMS), Danwa Sarbagni, Ramsoo today held a protest against shortage of teachers in the school and blocked the highway at Ramsoo.
A large number of students of GGMS Danwa Sarbagni along with their parents assembled this morning at Jammu Srinagar highway and staged a sit-in protest against the School Education Department over shortage of teachers in their school.
The protesting students and their parents alleged that there is presently only one teacher in the school for 200 students. They said that earlier there were four teachers but other three teachers are now attached in various offices.
“One can imagine, how one teacher can teach 200 students of different classes but it appears that School Education Department has shut its eyes,” the protesting students said and raised slogans against Chief Education Officer Ramban.
Getting information of the protest on highway, SHO, police station Ramsoo, Javed Ahmed and SDM Ramsoo, Dilmir Choudhary rushed to the spot and assured the protesting students and their parents that three more teachers will be posted in the school within a day or two.
On the assurance of the SHO and SDM, the students and their parents lifted the dharna and vehicular traffic was restored on the highway.
