Ghagwal police foils smuggling bid, rescues 11 bovine animals

SAMBA, Sept 25:  Ghagwal Police foiled a major bid of bovine smuggling and rescued 11 bovines in two separate incidents in the area during last two days.
According to Police a Police Party of PS Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh, SHO Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka Tapyal during the intervening night of September 23 and 24, signaled a Mahindra load carrier vehicle to stop which was without registration number. The vehicle was coming from Kathua side.
However on seeing police party, the driver tried to flee from the spot and when police  chased him he abandoned the vehicle at Nonath and escaped from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally.  The vehicle and the bovine animals were seized and a case FIR No.83/2017 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 179/183/184/MV Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation is going on to nab the driver.
In a similar incident during late last night Police Party of PS Ghagwal intercepted one Mahindra load carrier with registration number JK08C 7664 coming from Kathua side and found six bovines laden inside the vehicle without permission.  The vehicle and the bovine animals were seized and a case FIR No.84/2017 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 179/183/184/MV Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation is going on to nab the driver.
It may be recalled that Samba Police under the directives of  Anil Magotra, SSP Samba and under close supervision of  Tanveer Ahmed Dy.SP Hqrs Samba has launched a continuous drive against the bovine smuggling and drug trafficking in the area.
