Ghagwal police rescues 14 bovine animals, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, Nov 28: On the continuous drive launched against the bovine smuggler on the direction of SSP Samba, Dr Koushal Sharma, once again police foiled bovine smuggling bid and rescued 14 bovines and arrested the two smugglers during the Nakka checking at Tapyal under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police Station in district Samba near here, today.
According to the police spokesperson, a police party of Police Station, Ghagwal headed by Inspector Rajeev Kumar, SHO Police Station Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, DySP Headquarter Samba, during vehicle checking at police Naka NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck bearing Registration No JK02AF-3911 to stop, which was coming from Kathua side. On seeing the police Party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but after a successful chase by the police, the truck was intercepted near Nonath.
During checking of the vehicle, 14 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which was being transported illegally without any permission. Police rescued all cattle and shifted to safer place. Police seized the vehicle and also arrested the driver and his associate namely Shabir Shah, son of Jasin Shah and Ashiq Ali Shah, son of Jamat Ali Shah both R/o Chaml Banihal, Ramban were arrested on spot.
In this regard a case FIR No. 155/2018 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
It may be recalled that the vigorous drive against the bovine smugglers has been launched by District Police Samba on the directives of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP, Samba.
