Ghagwal police rescues 16 bovines, arrests one, seizes truck

SAMBA, Oct 31: District Police Samba (DPS) foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 16 animals after arresting a bovine smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal today.
A police party of PS Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW, Tapyal, Ghagwal signaled a truck bearing Registration Number JK02AR/9839 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley to stop.
On seeing the naka party, the driver tried to flee from the spot by accelerating the speed of vehicle, but was chased by police party and was apprehended and the truck was seized.
During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Amarjit Singh son of Bachan Singh of Chatha, tehsil & district Jammu has been arrested on spot.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to a safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 184/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
