Ghagwal police rescues 5 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, May 22: Continuing its drive against bovines smuggling, District Police, Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing five bovines with the arrest of two bovine smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal today.
Acting on a reliable information regarding an accident near ditch at border road Rajpura, a Police Party of PS Ghagwal rushed to the spot and found a Mahindra pickup bearing Registration Number,PB02CR-6873 loaded with bovines have turned turtle due to rash and negligent driving.
During checking of the said vehicle, five animals were found laden inside without any permission which were being transported to Valley by the accused driver identified as Shah Bali, son of Sheru of Chhan Morian, Hiranagar and his associate namely Surmu Din son of Moja Din of Chack Desa Choudhrian, Marheen. Both the accused have been arrested. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 279/188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
