SRINAGAR, Sept 6: Eminent Islamic scholar Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami along with Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, unveiled the new logo of the J&K Waqf Board here today.
Renowned Islamic scholars, including Maulana Ashraf, Moulana Tajamul Qadri, Moulana Fayaz Rezvi, Moulana Ghulam Mohidin Shah, and others were also present on the occasion.
During the event, a brief video presentation showcased the new logo, which was later officially launched in physical form by Maulana Hami and Dr Andrabi.
Maulana Hami expressed his delight at the progressive steps being taken by the Waqf Board to restore its prominence in Jammu & Kashmir.
He commended the introduction of this logo, marking a historic first for the prestigious institution, as part of the Board’s continuous reformative efforts under the leadership of Dr Andrabi.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi provided insights into the symbolism behind the logo, emphasizing that it represents the Sufi spiritual tradition of Islam.
According to her, the logo prominently features the Rub-el-Hizb, an octagram formed by overlapping squares, symbolizing the ancient Islamic system for Quranic recitation. This symbol is deeply rooted in Islamic heritage.
Symbolically, she said, the octagonal star has been historically used by Islamic mathematicians to represent Quranic wisdom, reflecting the pattern of Quran-e-Majeed’s compilation, available for all time.
“Additionally, it symbolizes angels carrying the throne of God, conveying profound spiritual significance,” said Dr Andrabi.
Within the logo, she further said, the upper part of the octagon showcases an Islamic architectural symbol of a shrine topped with a crescent.
“The tombs beneath the green arch symbolize the shrine of the great Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa (PBUH), representing the enduring essence of Islam, the religion of peace. The crescent atop symbolizes God’s guidance in both worldly and spiritual life,” added Dr Andrabi.
According to her, the crescent-shaped base of the main logo contains the name of J&K Waqf Board in both Urdu and English.
She expressed gratitude to the people of J&K and scholars for their support of the Waqf Board’s reformative decisions.
The event was anchored by renowned presenter Tabraiz Madani.
