Gillani is the new IGP, Kashmir

SRINAGAR:
Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, a 1994 batch IPS officer, today took over as Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, replacing A G Mir who was recently transferred and posted as IG CID.
Gillani, an alumnus of Sainik School, Mansbal, assumed the office of IGP Kashmir at the Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar.
Besides serving the State in various important capacities including IGP Crime, SSP Srinagar and AIG(P), he also held important posts in Central Bureau of Investigation.
Gillani has been awarded many medals including Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services in 2012, Indian Police Medal for Gallantry and Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medals for Meritorious Service and Gallantry. (AGENCIES)
