JAMMU, Oct 6: Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh today visited Drass War Memorial in Kargil district in the Union Territory of Ladakh and paid tribute to the bravehearts.
Giriraj visited Leh district yesterday.

“Today, I had the profound honour of visiting the Kargil War Memorial, a symbol of India’s unshakable courage and sacrifice. Located in the serene Drass Valley, this memorial honours the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during Operation Vijay in 1999. Each name etched here is a reminder of the heroism of those who gave their today for our tomorrow,” Giriraj said in a post on X.

In 1999, Indian soldiers fought with Pakistani troops and invaders in the Icy heights of Kargil for nearly three months and won the war in July. This year marked silver jubilee celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Drass on silver jumble celebrations of the Indian victory over Pakistan in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Giriraj Singh visited the stalls of Sheep Husbandry Department in Kargil.
The DSHO Kargil received him with traditional khatak. Officers accompanied the Minister.
He inspected the stalls & livestock and interacted with pashmina breeders. The breeders placed their demands before the Minister who assured to fulfill all genuine demands in coordination with other concerned Departments.
