UDHAMPUR, May 5 : A girl committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at her house in Barrian, Ward number 5 in Udhampur town.
The deceased was identified as Kanta Devi (29), daughter of Sadhu Ram. She was found lying unconscious by the family members who shifted her to the District Hospital. Despite hectic efforts by the doctors, she did not respond to the treatment and died soon.
Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in a road accident, a motorcyclist was injured when his bike skidded off the road near Jaganoo Morh. The injured, identified as Sunny Kumar, son of Som Raj of Chenni Morh, Udhampur, was rushed to hospital and his condition was stated to be stable.
