RAJOURI, Apr 16: A girl student allegedly committed suicide after she was caught while copying in examination centre at Degree College Thannamandi today.
A senior police official said that Rozy Anjum, a student of BA Part-I of Degree College Thanamandi and daughter of Farooq Naik, resident of Thanamandi town consumed some poisonous substance at her home and became serious this afternoon. She was rushed to local hospital where doctors referred her to District Hospital Rajouri in view of her serious condition. She died in Rajouri hospital later.
The parents of the girl told police that girl had gone to the college and today she appeared in English paper. The girl stated that she was caught copying and the Superintendent made a case against her. The paper was also snatched by the examiners. The girl when returned home was very upset and told the matter. Later, she took some poisonous stuff in her room and became serious. They said that some classmates of the girl also revealed the matter.
The issue created tension in the town and the SDPO deployed additional policemen in and around the town sensing trouble. The girl’s body after postmortem was handed over the family. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
