REASI, Aug 18: A girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two youth at Pharya, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Dera Baba, here last Monday.
Acting swiftly following a complaint in this regard, lodged yesterday by mother of the victim, Police team led by Dy SP Nikhil Gogna apprehended one of the accused. He has been identified as Anil Sharma alias Rinku, son of Shanker Dass of Kanjali. The other accused, identified as Narinder Kumar alias Kalu, son of Thakur Dass of Shapanu, tehsil and district Reasi, is still at large and a Police has launched a hunt to nab him.
The matter came into light yesterday when mother of the victim approached Police Station Reasi and lodged a complaint that her daughter was kidnapped by the said accused when she was on way her sister’s home at Pharya on August 12. The accused allegedly took her to an unknown place where they raped her one by one during the intervening night of August 12-13.
After registration of a case FIR number 149/2018, under section 363/376-d/342/34/RPC, Reasi Police launched investigation and succeeded in arresting Anil Sharma alias Rinku from Bhaga area today.
The arrest was made by a Police, team, lead by Dy SP Hqrs, Reasi, Nikhil Gogna, under the supervision of SSP Nisha Nathyal.
However, other accused is still absconding and a hunt has been launched to nab him.
Meanwhile, a young girl committed suicide by hanging herself near her house at Kansar. The deceased was identified as Vidya Devi, daughter of Bodh Raj. Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
