Srinagar, Sept 20: A 9-year-old girl was sexually assaulted before her murder in North Kashmir district of Baramulla last evening.
The 4th standard girl identified as Snobar Gul, daughter of Mohammed Rustum Najar was allegedly sexually assaulted before she was buried under mud in Pazilpora village of Rafiabad in North Kashmir last evening.
The girl after returning from the School had gone to play with children and went missing. As she didn’t return home in the evening, her parents and relatives went out to search her. Reports said that during searches they heard screams of the girl and found her buried alive under mud behind her house.
The girl who was bleeding profusely was evacuated to primary health centre Dangiwacha and later to District Hospital Baramulla where she succumbed to her injuries.
Hundreds of people came out in protest against the sexual assault and murder of the girl and demanded immediate arrest of culprits.
The Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Baramulla, Dr. Bashir Ahmad confirmed the sexual assault on the girl. He said that a team of four doctors conducted postmortem of the body today morning. He said that the girl died due to asphyxia and had been sexually assaulted.
Police have registered a case in this regard and started investigation into the incident.
