JAMMU, May 13: Girls secured leads in all faculties of Science, Commerce and Arts in the results of Higher Secondary Part-II examinations, the results of which were declared today by the State Board of School Education (BOSE).
BOSE chairperson Dr Renu Goswami said out of 35,190 candidates, who appeared in the exams, 18,581 got through, recording pass percentage of 52.8.
The highest pass percentage of 80.2 was recorded by the girls in Commerce as against 57.7 of boys while in Science 74.9 pc girls passed the exams as against 60.7 per cent boys. In Arts faculty, 46.3 per cent girls cleared the exams while 29.4 per cent boys got through.
Ten positions in Science stream were shared by 38 students including 22 girls and 16 boys while an equal number of positions in Commerce were jointly bagged by 18 students-17 girls and lone boy. In Arts faculty, 15 students shared 10 top slots in the merit list including 12 boys and three girls.
Significantly, only nine students could pass the examination in Home Science faculty and all of them figured in the merit list, Dr Goswami said. All of them were females.
However, it was Vivek Gupta of Dogra Higher Secondary School (HSS), Shastri Nagar, who topped the Science faculty with 490 marks out of a total of 500 (98 per cent).
He was followed by Akanksha Sharma of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar, who got 489 marks while her schoolmate Avleen Kour came third with 488 marks. Sidhant Dubey of Kotwal National Institute of Teaching HSS, Talab Tillo also shared third position with Avleen Kour taking an equal number of 488 marks.
Sourav Sudan of SRML HSS, Parade Ground and Surbhi Sharma of Infant Jesus HSS, Hiranagar shared fourth position in Science stream securing 487 marks while Ankita Gupta of Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, HSS Udhampur, Piyushi Pawan of St Xavier Convent HSS, Barnai and Shilpa Sharma of Infant Jesus HSS, Hiranagar got fifth position, each of them securing 486 marks.
Again, three students shared sixth position by securing 485 marks. They included Archana Dhar of St Xavier Convent HSS, Barnai, Arun Bazal of SRML HSS, Parade Ground and Jeevanjyot Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar.
Seventh position too went to three students including Akshita Koul of St Xavier Convent HSS, Barnai, Palvi Gotra of SP HSS, Exchange Road and Sakshar Sharma of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar, who took 484 marks each.
Six students shared eighth position by securing 483 marks each. They are Aakash Ravgotra and Abhishek Mehra of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar, Kamini Sharma of Government Girls HSS, Nowshera, Monika Aggarwal of Model Academy HSS, BS Road, Swaita Devi of Government Girls HSS, Mubarak Mandi and Vaskar Sardhalia of Infant Jesus HSS, Hiranagar.
Eight students jointly bagged ninth position taking 482 marks. They included Deveani Suri, Gunjan Kour and Manpreet Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar, Disha and Suhasini Gupta from Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, HSS Udhampur, Harmeet Singh of Christ HSS Poonch, Rudrakshi Sharma of Oriental Academy Afghan Mohalla, Jammu and Zulfiqar Ali of SP HSS Exchange Road, Jammu.
Again, nine students shared last and 10th position of Science faculty bagging 481 marks.
They are Aman Bhardwaj of St Xavier Convent HSS Barnai, Jammu, Anannya Dhanwal, Lakshmi Devi, Shivali Choudhary and Sonali Sharma, all from Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar, Arshad Aziz Qureshi of Christ HSS Poonch, Russell Khajuria of St Peter’s HSS Karan Bagh Satwari, Jammu, Shubam Kumar Gupta of Dream Land Public School Janipura, Jammu and Shubam Langer of SRML HSS Parade Ground, Jammu.
In Commence, the top 10 positions were shared by 18 students including 17 female and one male student. Nitika Kappor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi claimed first position by securing 486 marks, whereas the second position was shared by Diksha Mahajan of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar and Diksha Vij of Shiksha Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar by securing 485 marks.
The third, fourth and fifth positions were claimed by Saloni Verma of Oriental Academy, Afghan Mohalla, Baljeet Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar and Vipula Pandita of Kotwal National Institute of Teaching HSS, Talab Tillo by securing 481, 480 and 478 marks respectively.
Manta Bogale of AOC Higher Secondary School, Subash Nagar secured sixth position by securing 477 marks, whereas Megha Sharma of SP Higher Secondary School, Exchange Road, Reetika Sharma of Dewan Devi Public School, Rajpura Mangotrian and Vidhushi Sharma of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi shared seventh position by securing 476 marks.
The eighth position was secured by Payal Bali of Vidya Peeth Public HSS, Chogan Slathia by securing 94.4 per cent marks, whereas the ninth position was shared by Anandita Thakur of DBN Vidya Mandir HSS, Mubarak Mandi and Yogyata Kapoor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi by securing 94.2 per cent marks.
Arjun Singh of SP Higher Secondary School, Exchange Road, Vaidahi Gandotra of Oriental Academy, Afghan Mohalla, Gurneet Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar, Divya Baigra of Oriental Academy, Afghan Mohalla and Simran Kour Hans of Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar shared tenth position by securing 468 marks.
In Arts, 15 students secured top 10 positions. Arashdeep Kour of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi claimed first position by securing 462 marks, whereas the second position was shared by Ishtaq Ahmed Sheikh of SRML Higher Secondary School, Parade, Maria Mullick of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Purvi Sharma of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur and Shaheen Karim of Global Convent HSS, Channi Rama by securing 461 marks.
Third, fourth and fifth positions were claimed by Muskan Bakshi of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari, Vithika Balotra of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi and Anshu Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School, Jourian, tehsil Akhnoor by securing 460, 457 and 456 marks respectively.
The sixth position was shared by Nishi Dalmotra of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, RS Pura and Purti Sethi of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi by securing 455 marks.
Manuj Goel of Shiksha Niketa HSS, Jeevan Nagar and Satya Adersh of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, RS Pura shared seventh position by securing 452 marks.
The eight, ninth and tenth positions were secured by Aveeet Kour of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib, RS Pura, Simranjeet Kour of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nowshera and Kavita Gupta of Government Mixed Higher Secondary School, Durga Nagar Chinore by securing 451, 450 and 448 marks respectively.
In Home Science, all the nine positions were secured by girls of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi. Neha Sotra secured first position by securing 69.8 per cent, while Shweta Devi claimed second position by securing 66.4 per cent.
The third position was secured by Mubeen Paul by securing 307 marks, while Vasundhara Gupta bagged fourth position by securing 59.2 per cent. The fifth and sixth positions were secured by Neha Thakur and Simran by securing 59 per cent and 58.4 per cent respectively.
The seventh position was claimed by Vinish Malik by securing 285 marks, whereas the eight and ninth positions were claimed by Jyotika Dogra and Mamta Devi by securing 265 and 261 marks respectively.
