Block Level Inter-Panchayat Tournament concludes

JAMMU, May 2: Parladpur Zone trounced Sum Zone in the summit clash by 3 points and claimed the girls kabaddi title in the ongoing Block Level Inter-Panchayat Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the centrally sponsored scheme of Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) at Government Boys High School Jammu Cantt, here today.
About 160 girls drawn from various panchayats took part in the event.
The kho-kho title went to Raipur Khandwal as they scripted a narrow win over Gadigarh Panchayat by one point and the final score read (7-6) in favour of the winners.
Meanwhile, in athletic events, Shewata Devi of Drub Panchayat bagged gold in 100 meters sprint, while Nisha Saini of Parladpur and Mehnaz Bano of Satwari got silver and bronze medals in this event respectively.
In 200 meters, Tamana Kousar of Satwari clinched gold, while Shewata Devi of Drub bagged silver and Kiran Kumari of Hakkal won bronze.
Headmistress High School Jammu Cantt, Nirmal Raina, was the chief guest in today’s proceedings, while Zonal Physical Education Officer, Satwari, Saroman Devi, was also present on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Mohinder Singh, Chanderkanta, Ganesh Kumar, Rani Gupta, Ranjeet Singh, Sanjay Khajuria, Rajesh Kumar, Jasbir Kour, Hardev Singh and Harpreet Kour, while Bunty Jad maintained the record.
