JAMMU, May 20: Girls once again dominated Secondary Class Examination (Class 10th) results, declared today by the State Board of School Education (BOSE) securing 136 places in the merit list leaving only 88 for boys. A total of 224 students shared first 20 positions.
Pass percentage for the examinations stood at 64.34 per cent, BOSE chairperson Dr Renu Goswami said.
She said a total of 53,323 students appeared in the examinations and, of them, 34,326 got through. Pass percentage for girls was 66.14 while it was 62.82 for boys. A total of 28,997 boys appeared in the exams. Of them, 18,217 were declared passed, 2095 were put in the category of ‘To Improve’ while 10723 failed. A total of 24,326 girls appeared in the examinations and 16089 were passed, 1967 fell in the category of `To Improve’ and 8195 were failed.
A number of students from extreme rural areas also figured in the merit list.
Abhimanyu Kalsotra topped in the merit list securing 492 marks out of a total of 500 (98.4 per cent). He is a student of St Peters High School BC Road, Jammu. Romani Gupta of Christ School Nowshera followed him with 491 marks and secured second position. Vijay Lakshmi of National Academy HS Court Road, Udhampur bagged third place in the merit list with 490 marks.
Harsh Deep Kour of St Peter Higher Secondary School (HSS) Karan Bagh and Nahida Choudhary of International HSS Rajouri shared 4th position with 489 marks while Rajat Gupta of Unique Academy Bharat Nagar and Smriti Sharma of D Devi HSS Rajpura Mangotrian shared 5th position taking 488 marks.
Nine students jointly shared 6th position taking 487 marks. They included Eva Chibber of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani, Shriya Aggarwal of JK Public School Panjtirthi, Jaspreet Kaur of St Peters HS BC Road, Chandan of Ct Annes Convent School Basohli, Uamakshi Sharma of Holy Family Convent School Nagri Parole, Jas Simran Kaur and Prabh Simran Kour, both from Christ School Poonch, Asiya Ferdous of International HSS Rajouri and Tanv Sharma of Shiv Public HSS Bari Barahamana.
Seventh position went to Vasundhara Pandita of SS Memorial HSS Patoli Jammu and Ripal Singh of Kalidhar Memorial Army School Sunderbani, both of whom had 486 marks.
Eleven students shared 8th position taking 485 marks. They were Amit Kumar of SL Memorial Model HS Santra Morh, Sumanyu Gupta of St Peters HS BC Road, Suhasini Raina of Dream Land Public School Janipur Jammu, Sheweta Talashi of St Xavier Convent HSS Barnai, Gorav Singh of Holy Cross Convent HS RS Pura, Adarsh Kalandria of Fatima Convent HS Bishnah, Arush Kumar of Little Angles HSS Kathua, Suhaib ul Sabah of Spring Dales English School Kathua, Sonia Sharma of Dream Land Public High School Teryath, Ankita Sharma and Shriya Verma, both from B B S V Peeth HSS Udhampur.
Nine students shared 9th position securing 484 marks. They included Tabish Tariq of S Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar, Manpreet Kour of St Peter HSS Karan Bagh, Palak Gupta of Shiksha Niketan HS Gandhi Nagar, Sukriti Sharma of SS Memorial HSS Patoli Jammu, Surbhi Sharma of Sun Shine HS Kandoli Nagrota, Vaishali Bhadwal of Sacred Heart Convent HS Phinter, Kartandeep Singh of Modern Edu Res Pub High School Hardu Malara, Um Abhia Saleem of Panorama Public HSS Rajouri and Shobit Gupta of National Academy HS Court Road Udhampur.
Ten students shared 10th position taking 483 marks.
