DODA, Sept 18: Former Minister and senior Congress leader from Bhaderwah, Mohd Sharief Niaz has appealed the people from erstwhile Doda district not to give heed to the statements being issued by some BJP leaders and maintain communal harmony and brotherhood in the area.
Reacting sharply to the statement of BJP spokesman on the alleged communal lines, the Congress leader said that in some areas Muslims were in majority while in others Hindus were in majority. He said the people of this area have even shown during 1947 that they believe in brotherhood and unity. He issued appeal to the people of Doda and Kishtwar to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood and not to be swayed by the statements being issued by the BJP leaders to divide the society on the communal lines.
Mr Niaz also lauded the amicable decision taken in all party meeting convened by the administration wherein it has been unanimously agreed by all sections of the society for taking strict action against the actual culprits involved in the deaths and destruction in the riots hit Kishtwar.
