POONCH, Oct 8: All Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (BADC), has appealed to the Union Government and the J&K Administration to formulate one time relaxation policy for all existing daily rated workers who are engaged and serving in different departments of J&K Government for years and decades but not given permanent employees’ status.
In its appeal BADC stated that as of now many such daily wage workers have crossed their age limit of applying for regular posts therefore, showing magnanimity, the J&K Government must relax rules so that these workers are adjusted on permanent posts so that their family members also able to live a dignified life.
Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of the BADC and former Vice Chancellor while supporting the demand of regularization of all daily wage workers as one time relaxation said “The monthly remuneration paid to daily wage workers in J&K is nothing but a cruel joke. These people are unable to even get two times meals, forget health and education of their children.”
The BADC Chairman said all the previous governments exploited these daily wagers and made hollow promises with them.
Justifying the cause of these workers, he stated that be it Police, Power Development Department, Sports, Agriculture, Forest, Education, Municipalities or Jal Shakti, a significant contribution has been made by the non-permanent staff in their respective departments. They deserve empathy and sympathy. He urged the Union Home Minister and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to consider the prayer of these J&K workers for regularization.
