“The party has issued a manifesto, and we will ensure we adhere to it. The public will soon come to know about the NC’s strategy. Our first priority is to streamline the administration and resolve the issues affecting the people,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the party, noting that administering the oath to the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly is a great honor.
Gul, who is also the Member of Legislative Assembly from Eidgah, pointed out that there are pressing issues people face in the districts, along with challenges young people are confronting across J&K, which must be addressed first.
“There is much that needs to be done, and our immediate focus is bringing relief to the people. Issues in sectors like tourism and rural development need to be tackled first,” he said in response to a question about whether the NC had softened its stance on political issues.
Regarding the restoration of Statehood, Gul called on the Prime Minister to demonstrate magnanimity by promptly announcing the restoration of Statehood to J&K.
“Why take the issue to the courts and such? He should show magnanimity because the people have trusted democracy and given a mandate to the new Government.”
He urged the public not to worry and to give the new Government some time. “After that, our position on political issues will become clear. For now, the administration needs to be tightened, and the people need some relief.”
When asked about not being included in the Cabinet, Gul admitted that it used to bother him, but “now I’m used to it.” He added that the old city will see significant changes in the coming times under the new Government.
Earlier, LG Manoj Sinha administered oath of Pro-tem Speaker of Legislative Assembly to Mubarak Gul in Srinagar. He will administer oath to newly elected MLAs on October 21.
