HIRANAGAR, Oct 28: A one day seminar on promotion of Hindi language in Science and Technology in Higher Education was held at Govt GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar.
The event was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu. Keynote speaker on the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Head, Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Jammu. The seminar was also graced by Prof. Daya Vilas, former Principal Higher Education Department and Dr. Vijay Sharma former Professor, Higher Education Department.
The programme titled ‘Uchya Shiksha Mein Vigyan Evam Takniqi Shiksha Ka Madhyam Hindi’ was held in joint collaboration with Department of Hindi, Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar and Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Jammu.
Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal of the College in her inaugural address stated that Hindi language has been a language of research from ancient times.
The programme focussed on a number of activities and initiatives like Translation and Localization, Educational Outreach, Hindi Language Software Development, Collaboration with IT companies, Research Grants and Public Awareness Campaigns.
Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Bhushan said: “By promoting Hindi we are fostering inclusivity and ensuring that everyone has opportunity to participate in and benefit from the fruits of scientific progress.”
Vivek Sharma, Arti Devi, Bandana Devi and Mansi bagged first, second and 3rd positions respectively. Prof. Rakesh Sharma, HoD Hindi presented vote of thanks.
The programme was held under the overall supervision of Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College.
