JAMMU, Mar 17: Panun Kashmir (PK) organized a seminar, at Press Club here, today on the topic “Hamas-Israel Conflict—Implications on National Security of India”. The seminar was addressed by eminent security experts including Lt. Gen. KR Rao (Retd) former DG Artillery, Dr. SP Vaid, former DGP of Jammu & Kashmir, Maj. Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (retd), a war veteran, former Commander and Military Secretary to the President of India, and Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman, Panun Kashmir. Col. RakeshAima (retd) anchored the proceedings.
The panellists were unanimous in suggesting that developments in Gaza are ominous for world-order and pose a grave threat to the world-peace. The terrorist groups, after take-over in Afghanistan and now Gaza, pose a formidable challenge to the entire civilized world.
Maj. Gen. (retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal stated that the Hamas-Israel conflict is likely to get prolonged and shall further embolden elements that stand pitted against the nation-State. He said that in Jammu & Kashmir the scale of terrorist violence is likely to escalate as a spill-over of the Hamas’s ability to stretch conflict and inflict destruction on Israel. He appealed to the sections of society in J&K to stand united against the forces of destabilization.
Taking pride in the sacrifices of his ancestors, he urged that the Dogra valour and cerebral abilities of Kashmiri Pandits must collaborate in order to recreate that era of peace and harmony for which the Dogra rule is remembered. He assured that Hindus of Kashmir will get back their homeland.
Dr. SP Vaid, former DGP J&K said that the Hamas -Israel conflict has serious implications for the security of the world in general and India in particular. He stated that prolonged conflict could lead to increased radicalization in the world and Indian subcontinent. “Already we have Pan Islamic terrorists organizations like ISIS, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and JeM in India ‘s neighbourhood who also subscribe to radical Islamist ideology like that of Hamas and could lead to increasing radicalisation of the youth in the region. Maintaining the Kashmiri Pandits are victims of genocide Vaid fully endorsed the homeland demand of PK.
Lt. Gen. (retd) KR Rao made an elaborate visual presentation on the emergence of Hamas, it’s charter and engagement and the threat the present conflict poses to the entire world order leading to changing paradigms of war and conflict. Gen. Rao emphasized that the current conflict in Gaza has challenged the idea of a modern world governed by established rules of engagement. “A matter of concern is that the Hamas-Israel war has entered into the sixth month of conflict and operations, and doesn’t seem to end despite an unprecedented destruction caused on both sides.
Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman PK, also brought similarities between Hamas, Al Qaida, Hezbolla and Lashkar-e-Taiba. He demonstrated through examples how the world at large still underestimates the threat posed by such radical ideological groups and states to the existence of national and civilizational states and to the world order. While talking about the state of affairs in J&K, he was critical of the present regime’s absolute inertia while dealing with Jihadi forces and total abandonment of the Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr.Chrungoo, said that carving out Panun Kashmir and national security are complementary and a demographic Hindu foothold remains a pre-requisite of national security imperative in Kashmir.
