JAMMU, Mar 23: Glowing tributes were paid to 24 Nadimarg martyrs on their 19th anniversary belonging to Minority community of Kashmiri Pandits who were massacred on this day in 2003 by terrorists.
The Shrandhanjali Sabha was organised by Arde Narishwar Trust Nadimarg at Geeta Bhawan Muthi. Large number of people participated and survivors of the village paid rich floral tributes to the martyrs.
Radesh Das Ji lit the traditional lamp and paid floral tribute to the martyrs and performed Shanti Path while highlighting the philosophy of Karma Yoga.
The event was also attended by different prominent persons of the community in general and villagers of Nadimarg in particular and other people from different walks of life of the community.
It was on this day in 2003 when terrorist struck in the mid night in this village and killed these innocent people which includes 11 men, 11 women and 02 minor children.
The speakers while paying tributes expressed concern that till date none of the perpetrators have been punished rather stories are made to satisfy that the alleged perpetrators have been killed in encounters of which in real no record exists.
They said Nadimarg is one of these incidents as an example that has torn apart the claim of fake co-existence and secularism which is being boosted by everyone in Kashmir whether from mainstream or from separatist camp. An incident in which 24 innocent victims were those who continued to live at their place even after majority of the community left the Kashmir Valley because of forced exodus, they said . Since 19 years have passed but nothing has been done to punish the culprits and justice not provided in favor of the victims, because of the weak investigation and evidence of the State Government, they added.
The proceedings were conducted by Predman Krishan Raina. The vote of thanks was presented by Bushan Lal Bhat (Chairman Arde Nareshwar Trust Nadimarg Camp Jammu.
Meanwhile Kashmiri Pandit Conference led by Kundan Kashmiri also paid rich tributes to martyrs and demanded immediate arrest of terrorists responsible for the carnage.
Kundan Kashmiri said it is unfortunate that these martyrs were not given justice even after the 19 years of the carnage. It said the massacre was the complete security lapse on the part of then PDP-Congress Government.
