Glowing tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar on his 124th birth anniversary

JAMMU, Apr 14: Like other parts of the country glowing tributes were paid to Founding Father of Indian Constitution, Bharat Rattan, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 124th birth anniversary across the State today.
In this connection a grand function was organized by State Unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) at Ambedkar Chowk near here in which hundreds of Party activists participated and paid floral tributes to this illustrious son of India.
Earlier a grand rally was taken out from Brig Rajinder Singh Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk in which the people from all walks of life participated. The BSP activists’ riding on tractor trolleys, gypsies, horse carts (raths) and other modes of vehicles with Party flags in their hands participated in the rally.
The trolleys were decorated with portraits of great Gurus, Saints and Dr Ambedkar. The youth owing allegiance to BSP were dancing to the beating of drums. The ladies who participated in the rally were singing the bhajans in praise of great Gurus and Baba Ambedkar.
The rally passed through Guru Nabba Dass temple, Guru Valmiki temple, Dogra Hall, Sant Kabir Ji Maharaj temple, Rehari Exchange road, Parade Ground, Shalamar Chowk , Indira Chowk, Sant Goray Ji Maharaj, Dogra Chowk and Vikram Chowk and later culminated at Ambedkar Chowk near Rail head. A cultural programme was also held at B R Ambedkar Chowk. The function was held under the chairmanship of Gurnam Singh co-ordinator BSP, J&K and Tarseem Lal Khullar, State president of the Party. Besides, senior Party leaders Rattan Lal Chargotra, S R Majotra, Rattan Kumar Bhagat, S N Dogra, Rakesh Wazir, K L Attri, Deepak Rana, Tulsi , Daleep Gill, Charan Dass and others participated.
The BSP leaders, while paying rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar termed him a messiah of down-trodden oppressed and suppressed people of the country. They said Dr Ambedkar fought against caste system and worked for equality among people irrespective of their caste, creed, colour and religion. They said Dr Ambedkar was a great socialist and a thinker ahead of his time.
Terming Dr Ambedkar a great luminary the Minister for Social Welfare, Forest, Ecology & Environment, Bali Bhagat, today highlighted the contribution of architect of Indian Constitution and described him as a leader of poor and down-trodden who struggled for their cause.
Paying rich tributes to the great leader at separate functions organizsed to commemorate the 125th birth celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar at Paloura, Press Club and Bahu Fort today, the Minister said that contribution of this legendary personality is matchless and would continue to inspire the generations to come. He said real tribute to the leader is to follow his teachings and services towards the mankind. Dr. Ambedkar, throughout his life, highlighted the plight of the deprived sections of the society and tried to provide them justice in the society. The nation is proud of such a leader and will continue to remember his remarkable services, Minister added.
Responding to the issues of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, the Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir Government is committed to provide justice to all sections of the society including the SCs. He said Government will implement the Reservation Act in the State in letter and spirit to ensure the benefits of the reservation in Government jobs and promotions. He also said the Government will streamline the norms of scholarships to SC/ST communities so that all the deserving beneficiaries are benefited. He assured to address all outstanding issues of the SC community on priority.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar at a function here today organized by Pradesh Congress Committee at PCC Head Quarters Shaheedi Chowk here. The function was presided over by the president of JK PCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir and several party leaders participated in it.
While paying tributes to Dr Ambedkar, the senior Congress leaders described him as one of the towering leaders of modern India who will be always remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in the country.
National Conference (NC) also paid floral tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 124th birth anniversary. The Party held a function at Sher –e-Kashmir Bhawan here today in this regard which was chaired by provincial president of the Party Devender Singh Rana. While paying tributes to Dr Ambedkar, Mr Rana said this great legal luminary has left an indelible mark by ameliorating the lot of down-trodden and weaker segments of the Society.
Mr Rana said unflinching commitment of Dr Ambedkar towards social justice brought about a revolutionary transformation in Indian social order and helped in carving a society based on equality, justice and opportunities for all.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also organized a function here today to pay rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar. The function was organized by SC/ST/OBC Cell of PDP at Party Office here under the leadership of Madan Chalotra and Ashok Jogi. During the function the portrait of Dr Ambdekar was garlanded by all the participants.
In connection with observance of the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar National Panthers Party (NPP) organized a function at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in which the Party supreme Prof Bhim Singh was the chief guest.
Paying glorious tributes to architect of Indian Constitution Prof Bhim Singh called upon the politicians and all over the country to show their respect and regard for Dr Ambedkar by following his advice and wishes particularly in regard to Article 370 of Indian Constitution. He said Dr Ambedkar was opposed to insertion of Article 370 in the Indian Constitution giving special status to J&K State.
On the occasion of Dr Ambedkar birth anniversary a run for unity and brotherhood was organized at Ambedkar Nagar Udhampur. A marathon race which started from Ambedkar Chowk culminated at Mini Stadium, Udhampur by passing through main markets of Udhampur town.
Shakti Punj a NGO celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar in its office premises at Hiranagar today with great enthusiasm and fervour today.
Former Minister and State general secretary of Congress Manjit Singh also paid glorious tributes to Dr Ambedkar at a function organized at Vijaypur today. Singh in his speech said the best tributes to Dr Ambedkar will be to rid the society of inequality.
All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations commemorated the birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Bhadarwah in which large number of Confederation members participated. MLA Bhadarwah Dilip Parihar was the chief guest who paid rich tributes to late leader.
NSUI Poonch Committee also celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar and paid rich tributes to architect of Indian Constitution.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar by Jammu Pragti Manch at a function held here today. The function was presided over by Brij Mehra president of the Manch.
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Northern Region Transmission System-II, Jammu celebrated the 124th anniversary of Dr Ambedkar across its establishments in Northern region-II in which rich tributes were paid to father of Indian Constitution.
All India Confederation of SC, ST, OBC Organizations Unit Kathua in collaboration with various organizations organized a function in the town to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
Bhagat Mahasabha celebrated the 124th birth anniversary of Yug Purash Dr Ambedkar at K L Sehgal Hall here today. On the occasion rich tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar by the speakers. The employees’ class attended the function in large numbers.
