JAMMU, July 1: Rich tributes were paid to veteran KP leader, staunch RSS man and former president of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) at two different programme organized here today on occasion of his fourth death anniversary.
ASKPC held a function at its Bhawan (Amar Sheetal Sthal) Durga Nagar which was attended by the leaders of various social and political organizations.
The function started with unfurling of the community flag by ASKPC chief Ravinder Raina by chanting the slogan Jai Kara -Har Har Mahadev.
While highlighting the contribution of Mr Vaishnavi the ASKPC president recalled the role played by him in 1967 agitation in the Valley. He said Mr Vaishnavi was the guiding star for the community who fought for social values and made Kashmiri Pandit youth a vibrant force to reckon with. Terming Vaishnavi a dedicated and devoted leader of the community, Raina said that ASKPC will work on the same principles which were dare to the late leader.
He also appealed the younger generation to follow the path shown by Mr Vaishnavi. He, while highlighting his role after the mass exodus of the community from Valley said Mr Vaishnavi left no stone unturned to ensure that every state of the country ensures admission to displaced youth in their technical institutions.
On the occasion rich tributes were also paid to another ex president of ASKPC and an RSS ideologue Hira Lal Chatta who served community up to his last breath tirelessly.
Dr T K Bhat, general secretary ASKPC, Vijay Bakaya ex MLC, Kundan Kashmiri president KPC, B L Saraf, retired Session Judge, R K Raina ex president ASKPC, Kashmiri Lal Advocate, Chand Ji president BJP Displaced District, Veena Gurtoo, Sheela Handoo, Ramesh Hangloo, Ravi Raina and Bal Krishan Sanyasi were among the others who recalled the services of late leader.
Another function was organized by Vyeth a cultural organization headed by Prof Virender Rawal at Abhinav Theatre here this evening in which a film produced by Vyeth on life history and struggle of Mr Vaishnavi was screened.
The BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul was the chief guest while the function among others was attended by NC leader and former MLC Vijay Bakaya, BJP vice president, Moti Kaul, Panun Kashmir convener, Dr Agnishekhar, PK president, Ashwani Chrungoo,  Nath Ji Raina, Aryan Ramesh etc.
These speakers paid glowing tributes to late leader and termed him a great patriot who was the pillar of Indian nationalism in Kashmir. They said Mr Vaishnavi fought for total integration of J&K with India during his entire life and was also jailed during Praja Parishad Movement and other pro nationalist movements in the State. He also led his community during the hours of crisis like in 1967 movement and after its mass exodus from Valley.
Prof Virender Rawal said that making a film on the life of Mr Vaishnavi was to highlight his contributions and keep his memories alive among coming generations also. The vote of thanks was proposed by Makhan Lal Saraf.
