GM Northern Railway reviews safety on track

JAMMU, Dec 5: Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager Northern Railway, held a review meeting with the departmental heads of Northern Railway and DRMs.
Deliberations were held on keeping focus on safety on tracks keeping in mind the upcoming foggy weather, Business Development Units and freight loading.
Shobhan Chaudhuri said that, Northern Railway, for the safety of passengers, takes up all measures to eliminate the accidents on tracks and within yards. He reviewed winter arrangements for upcoming foggy weather and instructed all concerned officials for strict monitoring of tracks to detect rail fracture and rail weld fractures. He said that Fog Signals Detonators, should be made available at all concerned direct related with train operations, all warning boards should be repainted with reflective paint to enhance visibility during night in foggy weather.
He reviewed the work done over the zone in improving the maintenance of track, welds and renewal of tracks where ever required. He instructed the divisions to conduct special drives to enhance the safety during upcoming foggy weather and counsel the staff whenever necessary and required.
Stressing upon minimizing the human failure in train operation, he also instructed the department heads and DRMs to maintain the punctuality. The pace for freight loading should also be maintain with consistency and new vistas should be explored to enhance business of railway, he added.
The GM stressed that the initiatives and concessions offered by the Railways should reach the clients. He also informed that loading of food grains & other items have steadily increased with every passing month.
