GM Northern Railway stresses safety and efficiency in PRM

NEW DELHI, Oct 10: Shobhan Chaudhuri, the General Manager of Northern Railway, presided over a crucial Performance Review Meeting (PRM) with the Heads of Departments within Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) here today.
Safety was unequivocally the paramount focus of the meeting, as Chaudhuri underlined the imperative need to maintain the highest standards across railway operations.
Safety concerns were addressed comprehensively, with a particular emphasis on the upkeep of tracks, rolling stock, signalling systems, and overhead electric wires.
The GM reviewed ongoing efforts to enhance track maintenance, ensure signal system functionality, and bolster safety arrangements for the impending fog season.
He instructed the officials to expedite the removal of scrap materials near railway tracks, intensify night patrolling, visually inspect rail ends and fish bolt holes, and identify locations prone to rail fractures. These measures are aimed at averting any untoward incidents.
Further, he called upon divisions to prioritize safety counselling for staff and focus on electrical safety on tracks, as well as in relay and panel rooms to facilitate error-free train operations.
The GM also stressed the importance of minimizing human errors in train operations while maintaining punctuality and prioritizing safety in freight loading.
In addressing freight Business Development, Chaudhuri assessed the effectiveness of Business Development Units (BDUs) and urged them to foster trust, support, and confidence among the customers.
He also highlighted the need for railway initiatives and concessions to reach clients, noting a steady increase in the loading of food grains and other commodities in recent months.
