JAMMU, Sept 20: Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway administered the Swachhata Pledge in a programme held at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House New Delhi today.
Principal Heads of Departments of Headquarters and other senior railway officials were also present on the occasion while Divisional Railway Managers, Workshops Heads and Units joined the programme through web link.
Speaking on the occasion, Gangal said that keeping trains and railway premises clean is everyone’s responsibility.
During the Swachhata Pakhwara, which is being observed from 16th September 2022 till 2nd October 2022, intensive cleaning and sanitization of stations, trains, tracks, colonies and other railway establishments is being carried out with special focus on plastic waste management.
To create awareness for keeping the railway premises clean and safe webinars are being organized. During the webinar, speakers of NGO and experts on the environment from various Government, private and Non-Governmental Organisations shall address and participate.
In a webinar organized at Baroda House today, Aashish Tiwari, Secretary Environment, UP Government addressed the keynote while Sonia Gaga, Director Saahas, Dr Ruby Makhija, Founder AND Director Why Waste Wednesday and Dr Rachna Arora, Senior Adv, Giz also share their experience and give suggestions for cleanliness programmes.
Steps taken by railways for proper solid waste management, saving of water and conservation of energy, convergence of IR initiatives with Swachh Bharat Mission, green rating of railway stations, combating plastic waste and perspectives on circular economy were also be discussed in the webinar.
