GM reviews performance of Northern Railway

JAMMU, Oct 3: Shobhan Chaudhuri, the General Manager of Northern Railway, today discussed several crucial issues, showcasing the Railway’s unwavering commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, during a review meeting held in New Delhi.
A statement said that the primary focus of the meeting was safety on the tracks.
Addressing the Departmental Heads and the DRMs of the Northern Railway, Chaudhuri stressed the importance of enhancing safety measures, including track maintenance standards and the removal of scrap near the tracks.
He emphasized the need for comprehensive monitoring of rail fractures and welds, leaving no room for error.
Furthermore, Chaudhuri highlighted the significance of electrical safety on tracks and in relay and panel rooms to ensure the error-free movement of trains.
He also urged the team to minimize human errors in train operations and maintain punctuality, with safety as the top priority.
Addressing passenger comfort, Chaudhuri underscored the importance of providing minimum essential amenities at all stations under the Northern Railway’s jurisdiction. This includes increasing platform heights, installing PA systems, foot over bridges, platform shelters, drinking water facilities, water coolers, seating arrangements, toilets, lighting, parking-cum-circulating areas, timetable display boards, signage, electronic train indicator boards, and dustbins.
On the business front, the GM reviewed the progress of Business Development Units (BDUs). He emphasized the need for BDUs to build trust, support, and confidence among customers.
Chaudhuri also stressed the importance of effectively communicating the initiatives and concessions offered by the Railways to clients, ensuring that they benefit from these offerings.
