GMC advises against rehiring accommodation for staff

Srinagar, Dec 11: The Government Medical College & Associated Hospitals (GMC), Srinagar today asked all the heads of the departments and the Medical superintendents not to rehire any accommodation for the staff that was being provided to them keeping in view the pandemic situation.
An order in this regard was today issued by the Principal, GMC Srinagar which stated that the facility of lodging and boarding was being provided by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) which has now “de-requisitioned it.”
The order stated: “As a part of containment/management of Covid-19 Pandemic, some hotels were provided for frontline functionaries of Health Department including those belonging to Government Medical College Srinagar and its Associated Hospitals.”
It said that the facility was provided by the District Disaster Management Authority for boarding and lodging of the staff. The requisition of funds on this account has been projected to Chairman District Disaster Management Srinagar.
“Meanwhile, keeping in view the current situation of the Pandemic, it has been ordered by District Magistrate vide order NO:-DS/DDMA/thq/20/1771-77 dated 10/11/2020 that hotel accommodation so provided has been de-requisitioned forthwith,” it said.
The order stated that: “Now, therefore, concerned Heads of Department/Medical Superintendents are advised not to rehire any such accommodations as this office is not going to entertain any such claim on this account beyond November 15, 2020 as mentioned in the order issued by Deputy Commissioner.”
