One more with same capacity soon: MS

Srinagar, Aug 19: The Government Medical College Anantnag today got another fully automatic high-flow oxygen generation plant installed with a capacity of 1000 Litres Per Minute (LPM) under the PM Cares Fund.
As per the officials, the oxygen generation capacity of the GMC, Anantnag is now over 3300 LMP besides bulk oxygen cylinders that are available for the patients at the hospital to meet any kind of emergency.
“The hospital had 2360LPM oxygen generation capacity and with the new addition, the cumulative oxygen generation capacity has reached 3350LPM besides 300 bulk oxygen cylinders,” the officials said.
Medical Superintendent, Dr Mohammad Iqbal Sofi said that the additional increase in the high flow oxygen is going to prove beneficial for the overall patient care while adding that all the beds at the hospital will now have the facility of the high flow oxygen which was not the case earlier.
“It has been installed under the PM Cares Fund and for that, we are thankful to the Government for providing us another 1000LPM Oxygen Generation plant on priority and now, all the beds of GMC Hospital will have centralized oxygen ports apart from high flow Oxygen ports to about 100 beds,” he said.
With the addition of the 1000 LPM oxygen generation plant, the Medical Superintendent said that it will also run six elective and emergency operation theatres which also require high flow oxygen.
While the current oxygen generation capacity of the hospital is 3350LPM, one more oxygen plant which has already been installed by the MED with the capacity of 1000LPM is going to take the overall oxygen generation capacity of the hospital to over 4300LPM, enough for a 500 bedded hospital to function.
It is to be noted that the current bed strength of the hospital is 350 beds while the work on another block with 150 beds is also going on.
Earlier the hospital had three oxygen generation plants with one of the plants having the capacity of 350 LPM and two more with 1000 LPM capacity each and the total capacity was 2350LPM.
In this regard, the Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr. Syed Tariq Qureshi while congratulating the mechanical team and the staff for the successful installation of another 1000LPM oxygen plant said that the new addition will improve oxygen efficiency in the hospital and will meet the hospital’s Oxygen requirements round the clock.
“The overall patient care will see betterment and with that, the oxygen efficiency and its reach to the required critical spots will also be increased,” he said.
