SRINAGAR, June 12: The Department of General Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has received accreditation for four additional Post Graduate DNB seats from the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
With this, the total number of DNB seats in the General Surgery Department has increased to six.
Dr Nazir Wani, Head of the Department of General Surgery, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating that the addition of four more seats will enhance patient care delivery and bolster academic and research activities within the department.
“Our department is actively engaged in performing a wide range of surgeries, including trauma surgeries, general surgeries, urological procedures, gastrointestinal surgeries, and oncosurgeries, among others,” Dr Wani elaborated.

Prof (Dr) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, congratulated the Department of General Surgery on this milestone. She emphasized that the addition of these four DNB seats will contribute significantly to the overall growth of the institution.
Dr Tajali Shora, DNB Coordinator at GMC Anantnag, also expressed satisfaction with the new accreditation, reiterating the college’s commitment to providing high-quality medical education and patient care.
