GMC Anantnag performs complex pancreatic surgery

SRINAGAR, May 17: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today successfully performed a complex pancreatic surgery on a 60-year-old female patient diagnosed with a mucinous tumor.
The patient, who had been suffering from recurrent abdominal pain, underwent thorough evaluation, following which, the medical team decided to perform a distal pancreatectomy, a surgery that involves the removal of a portion of the pancreas along with the spleen, GMC said in a statement.
“This challenging operation was conducted at Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Anantnag by a dedicated team led by Dr. Khalid Basheer, Surgical Gastroenterologist, under the leadership of Dr. Nazir A. Wani, Head of the Department (HoD) of Surgery.”
The anesthesia team, essential for the successful outcome of the procedure, was led by Dr. Anjum Shamim, HoD of Anesthesia. “The patient is stable and recovering well under post-operative care.”
Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, has extended congratulations to the team of doctors and paramedical staff for their exceptional work and successful execution of this complex surgery. “This achievement is a testament to the skill and dedication of our medical professionals,” she said.
