SRINAGAR, Sept 2: In a new addition to its services, the state-of-the-art Polysomnography Lab was inaugurated today at Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla.
The lab was unveiled by the Principal, Dr. Ruby Reshi, in the presence of Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvez Masoodi, Head of the Department of Chest Medicine, Dr. Shumail Bashir, and the heads of other departments.
GMC, in an issued statement, stated that the Lab is a significant addition to the medical facilities, emphasizing that it is equipped with cutting-edge technology aimed at diagnosing and treating sleep disorders with precision and accuracy.

“Polysomnography is a comprehensive sleep study that monitors various physiological parameters during sleep, enabling healthcare providers to diagnose conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia more effectively,” officials said.
Principal Dr. Ruby Reshi, on the occasion, commended the Department of Chest Medicine for their dedication and relentless efforts in acquiring and establishing this critical facility.
She emphasized the importance of such advancements in modern medicine, highlighting how they contribute to better patient outcomes and medical education.
“With the establishment of this facility, patients no longer need to travel to Srinagar or beyond for comprehensive sleep disorder diagnostics and treatments,” Dr Parvez Masoodi said.
Dr. Shumail Bashir, Head of the Department of Chest Medicine, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the realization of the Polysomnography Lab while reiterating the department’s commitment to using this facility for the betterment of patients and the advancement of medical knowledge.
