SMHS tops patient admissions, LD in surgeries

SRINAGAR, Apr 22: The Associated Hospitals of GMC Srinagar have performed over 39,000 major surgeries in one year, with Lal Ded Hospital leading in numbers by recording over 17,000 such surgeries during the period.
As per the details shared by the GMC Srinagar, SMHS hospital has performed 10726 major surgeries, 17351 by Lal Ded Hospital, 5192 surgeries Bone & Joint Hospital, 1809 Chest Diseases Hospital and 4058 by the Super Speciality Hospital, taking the total of major surgeries to 39136.
With regard to the minor surgeries performed in the year 2023-24 at the Associated Hospitals of GMC Srinagar, the details state that a total of 31,135 such surgeries have been performed, with the highest at SMHS Hospital, 12543.
3540 such surgeries have been performed at Lal Ded Hospital, 9672 at Bone & Joint Hospital, 898 at Chest Diseases Hospital and 4482 at the Super Speciality Hospital.
Further, with regard to the patients attended to in the Outpatient Departments of the Associated Hospitals of GMC Srinagar, 24 lakh 73 thousand 282 patients have visited the OPDs during the last one year, with SMHS on the top with over 10 lakh patient visits in the OPD.
Lal Ded Hospital, during the period, as per the details, has witnessed over 2 lakh patients in the OPD, over 2.24 lakh at Bone & Joint Hospital, over 4.57 lakh at Children Hospital, over 1.52 lakh at the Chest Diseases Hospital, over 1.69 lakh at Psychiatry Diseases Hospital and over 1.77 lakh patients at the Super Speciality Hospital.
Concerning the In-Patient Departments (IPD) admissions in the Associated Hospitals of GMC Srinagar, the details available state that a total of 2,28,239 patients were admitted to all the seven hospitals during the period which have bed strength of 2970.
The highest number of IPD admissions have been reported from SMHS Hospital, 1,07,589 during one year, with a total bed strength of 890.
Further, with regard to the rest of Associated Hospitals, details state that 36721 patients were admitted to Lal Ded Hospital which has bed strength of 710. In the Bone & Joints Hospital, which has a bed strength of 150, 14416 patients were admitted.
Similarly, at Children Hospital, which has a bed strength of 700, 28723 patients were admitted to the IPD, 7480 patients at Chest Disease Hospital with the bed strength of 200; 1779 at Psychiatry Diseases Hospital with the bed strength of 100; 31531 at the Super Speciality Hospital which has a bed strength of 220.
