JAMMU, Oct 16: Nations around the world celebrated World Anesthesia Day today to mark the discovery of anesthesia 176 years ago, which allowed patients to endure surgical procedures without feeling any pain
On this day, several campaigns are launched to highlight the importance of Anesthesia.
Indian Society of Anesthesiologist organized the platinum jubilee of ISA and organized a torch run by all regional ISA branches which converged at India Gate New Delhi so as to create awareness amongst the general public about speciality of anesthesia
To commemorate this day, a function was organized under the aegies of Indian Society of Anesthesiologists (Jammu branch) wherein doctors from GMC Jammu ASCOMS ,NH Katra,DH Gandhi Nagar and GMC Kathua and other peripheral hospitals participated.
Dr Anita Vig Kohli, president ISA Jammu branch welcomed the gathering, presented the annual report and highlighted the theme of this years anesthesia day Medication Safety.
A CME was organized on Renal Transplant where speakers from GMC Jammu and ASCOMS Batra Dr Ashwani, Dr Arti, Dr Junaid and Dr Benish deliberated about the details of management of transplant case in addition newer to anesthetic drugs in market.
Senior members of association Dr Gurmeet Singh was felicitated with Life Time achievement award. Present on occasion were Prof Anju Rajput. Prof & Head Deptt of Anesthesia GMC Jammu, Dr Nandita Sethi, Prof & Head ASCOMS, Prof Satya Dev and Dr Daljeet Charak along with other leading anesthesiologists.
