GMC Jammu hosts successful North Zone PG Assembly on Anaesthesiology

JAMMU, Mar 23: Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Pain Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), Jammu City Branch, organized the North Zone PG Assembly from March 21 to March 23, 2025. The academic event provided a valuable learning platform for postgraduate students nationwide, featuring insightful lectures on advancements in anaesthesia and critical care.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, as the chief guest. The presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Dr Sukhminder Singh Bajwa (secretary, ISA National) and Dr Manoj Kumar (treasurer, ISA National) added to the event’s prestige.
Key figures in the organizing committee included Dr Anita Vig Kohli, Professor and Head, Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, GMC Jammu; Dr Rajesh Mahajan, scientific chairperson; Dr Madan Lal Katoch, scientific co-chairperson; Dr Ashwani Kumar, organizing chairperson; Dr Renu Wakhloo, organizing secretary; Dr Updesh Kumar, co-organizing secretary and Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, vice president, ISA Jammu.
Dr Ashwani Kumar, president of ISA Jammu, delivered the welcome address. Dr Sukhminder Singh Bajwa highlighted the importance of such academic events in enhancing knowledge-sharing and skill development among anaesthesiologists. He also honoured key organizers, including Dr Anita Vig Kohli and ISA Jammu members, for their contributions to the event’s success.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ashutosh Gupta credited the Anaesthesia Department and ISA Jammu for conducting such a well-organized teaching program for postgraduate students and suggested that such academic programs be conducted in the future.
The Assembly attracted approximately 150 participants and featured expert-led discussions on evolving anaesthesia practices in complex medical cases.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Renu Wakhloo, treasurer, ISA Jammu and organizing secretary of the North Zone PG Assembly 2025.
