JAMMU, Jan 5: Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) Jammu City Branch, successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on the current scenario of Anaesthesia and critical care services in Jammu.
The CME commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony, followed by honouring the guests, including Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu; Dr Anita Vig, Professor and Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, GMC Jammu; Dr Narinder Bhutiyal, Medical Superintendent, GMC Jammu and associated hospitals; Dr GB Kohli, ex-HoD Anesthesia GMC Jammu; Dr Rajesh Mahajan, past president, ISA Jammu; Dr Ashwani Kumar, president, ISA Jammu; and Dr Updesh Kumar, general secretary, ISA Jammu.
Dr Ashwani Kumar presented welcome address while the newly elected body of ISA Jammu was introduced by Dr Gurmeet Singh Reen, Election Officer, ISA Jammu.
Two panel discussions were conducted during the programme. Panel discussion on current scenario, challenges and ways to improve safety standards in Anaesthesia services was moderated by Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and Dr Laughi Bhan with Dr Satya Dev Gupta(ex-HoD Anaesthesia, GMC Jammu), Dr Gurmeet Singh Reen, Dr Nandita Mehta (HoD Anaesthesia, ASCOMS Jammu) and Dr Ravinder Gupta (Consultant Anesthesia).
Second panel discussion on current scenario, challenges, and ways to improve critical care services in Jammu province was moderated by Dr Renu Wakhloo (Associate Prof Anaesthesia) and Dr Kunal Sharma (Assistant Professor Anaesthesia) with panelists Dr Anita Vig (HoD Anaesthesia), Dr Madan Lal Katoch (Prof Anaesthesia), Dr Sunana Gupta (HoD Anaesthesia, AIIMS Jammu), Dr Vanilla Chopra (HoD Critical Care Medicine, SMVD Narayana) and Dr Rohit Gupta (Critical Care, Ankur Matrika).
The CME program was a resounding success, attracting approximately 150 participants from all over Jammu.
