JAMMU, Sept 14: Government Medical College (GMC), Kathua celebrated its foundation day today with immense pride and a spirit of unity.
The event was graced by distinguished guests from Health & Medical Education Department, District Administration, ex-faculty members and social worker.
Dr Amrish Kohli (Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology) and Dr Dupinder Kour (Associate Professor, Department of Pathology) played a key role in organizing the day’s events in phased manner.
Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah (Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K), joined the celebration virtually as the chief guest. Through video conferencing, he addressed the gathering and shared his invaluable insights with the participants, commending GMC Kathua’s continued commitment to excellence in healthcare and education, achievements of GMC Kathua in the field of patient care and development of GMC Kathua from District Hospital Kathua.
A highlight of the event was an inspiring oration lecture delivered by Dr (Prof) M Ashraf Ganie, Director of SKIMS and Ex-Officio Secretary, joined through video conferencing and delivered another insightful oration lecture on Diabetes Melilites, providing significant academic value to the occasion and shared his research work in this field.
Dr Surinder K Atri, Principal of GMC Kathua, presented the Annual Report for 2023-24, highlighting the remarkable achievements, milestones, and advancements made by the all departments of this institution.
A spectacular cultural event featuring an array of vibrant performances, including a traditional solo song, group songs, group dances, a small movie on journey of MBBS, was presented by students as well as faculty members.
Later, medals and certificates were presented to the meritorious students of MBBS who excelled in the academic. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Raj Rishi Sharma (HoD Surgery at GMC Kathua).
