GMC Srinagar hosts CME on genetics in clinical practice

Srinagar, Oct 16: The Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar today hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) event titled “Integrating Genetics in Clinical Practice” to commemorate this year’s World Anatomy Day.
Principal, GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan, inaugurated the event.
The chief guest, Prof. Kulbeer Kour, former HoD of Anatomy at GMC Srinagar, congratulated the Department of Anatomy for its proactive role in staying current with the latest trends in the field and shed light on how genetics can be integrated into clinical practice.
The CME was attended by various heads of departments, faculty members, delegates, and students.
The one-day CME aimed to emphasize genetics-based diagnosis, targeted therapies, and improved patient outcomes.
In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan appreciated the organizing committee for conducting the CME on World Anatomy Day, emphasizing that anatomy is the foundation of medical science.
Prof. Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, HoD of the Department of Anatomy at GMC Srinagar, discussed the “Role of Genetics in Medicine,” highlighting its diagnostic, predictive, therapeutic, and preventive roles.
Prof. Bashir Ahmad Shah, Prof. (Dr.) Abdus Sami, Dr. Javed Ahmad Khan, Dr. Uzma Rasool, Dr. Maheen Nazir, and other speakers emphasized the importance of studying genetics and its role in diagnosis and treatment.
Administrator of Associated Hospitals, Mohamad Ashraf Hakak, Deputy Registrar of Academics, Dr. Mohd Saleem Ittoo, along with HoDs and faculty members, also attended the day-long CME.
