GMCC hosts interactive session with Agnishekhar, Khaibri

JAMMU, Nov 7: The Institute of Gandhi Memorial Camp College, (GMCC) Jammu, hosted a special interactive session centered around the realm of literature with eminent scholars Dr. Agnishekhar and Shiban Khaibiri.
This event marked a significant stride in nurturing the literary atmosphere within the institution.
Dr. Agnishekhar, demonstrated his unwavering dedication to promoting literature by generously contributing over 100 books from his personal collection. These books, gathered over a lifetime devoted to the written word, are a valuable addition to the college library, enriching the literary resources accessible to students and faculty.
In addition to this, Dr. Agnishekhar inaugurated the new “Literature in Exile” section within the College Library. This section is devoted to exploring literary works by authors who have experienced exile, providing unique insights into the human condition and the storytelling prowess.
The event was attended by students, faculty members, and literature enthusiasts who had the chance to interact with the guests and explore the new literary resources at their disposal.
Professor Verinder Rawal, general secretary Hindu Education Society Kashmir (HESK) read the welcome address and emphasized the importance of preserving the literary heritage for future generations.
Shiban Khaibri, who presided over the event, underscored the significance of preserving cultural heritage and literary traditions, which have been lost due to migration.
Verinder Raina, Member of the Executive Body, also spoke about literature, urging students to delve into literary books, which can transform their lives. He encouraged students to make reading a daily habit and integrate it into their thoughts.
Pradeep Pandita who anchored the programme said “Even though we were born to live with tears, we set up our tents in the narrow lanes of Purkhoo, Nagrota, Mishriwala and continued to lead a challenging life. However, we never let our history fade away.”
Satish Talashi, Principal of the institute, delivered the vote of thanks and the guest speakers for bringing their profound insights and emotions to the institution.
