KATHUA, Mar 24: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology GMCH-Kathua performed the first Endo Gynae Proctorship programme.
Dr Ajay Wakhloo Renowned Gynaecologist, Director Ankur Maitrika Hospital was invited as operating faculty to perform two cases Laparoscopically to promote the laparoscopic technique for gynae procedures.
The programme was attended by the Principal GMCH-Kathua Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat, Medical Superintendent Dr Chitra Vashnavi, HOD Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Dr Anil Mehta, HOD Department of Anaesthesia Dr Sanjay Kalsotra, HOD Surgery Dr Raj Rishi and eminent faculty Department of Gynae and other departments of GMCH-Kathua.
The programme was instrumental in training the Gynaecologists of the medical college for doing the complicated procedures Laparoscopically.
Dr Ajay Wakhloo not only performed the surgeries but also trained the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology for taking leap in performing the Gynae procedures through this technique and explained the benefits of Laparoscopic procedures to the patients, like less blood loss and early recovery.
Dr Anil Mehta and Dr Sanjay Kalsotra said that the department routinely performs Gynae endoscopic surgeries like lap hysterectomies Myomectomies and endometriosis and this programme was helpful in learning advanced gynae surgeries which are not routinely performed.

Dr Ajay Wakhloo and Dr Anil Mehta Members of Indian Association of Gynecological Endoscopy conceptualized this programme as part of commitment of growth of endoscopy in region especially New Medical College and other health institution.
